Designing a website as an interconnected visual archive

This is the second time the visual artist and filmmaker Fiona Tan asked us to design her website. The first time, we focused on establishing different overview options that allowed us to access her works quickly, see the documented installation views and related publications. We added password protected pages to manage the press enquiries.

After years in use, it was time to expand the website’s capacity to manage the increased number of visitors and amount of archived work. We refreshed the user experience approach for smoother implementation of these upgrades. At the same time we focused on having a clear overview of the individual project’s content and on moving between the interconnected projects even more seamlessly.

After previously photo passe-partout grey inspired look, we introduced toned-down colour palette, to reflect her photographic aesthetics and interest in working with archival material.
